Russians Shine in Tough Loss

The Hat Tricks returned to the ice tonight and saw two new players shine in their debut. Oleg Egorov and Egor Sheheglov came from Russia and laced up the skates for the first time on Friday, but the Hat Tricks eventually fell to the Long Beach Sharks 5-3.

To kick off the scoring, Egorov (1) netted his first career goal and followed it up with an assist to notch a two-point performance in his debut. His counterpart, Sheheglov also tallied an assist in his first game with the Hat Tricks.

The Hat Tricks took a two-goal lead into the second, as Daniel Khatib (5) buried a shot with only four seconds remaining in the first to give the Hat Tricks a cushion heading to the second.

The Sharks scored twice in the first half of the second, to tie the game. With four minutes left in the period, the birthday boy Antonio Felidi (1) found the back of the net for his first career goal. Felidi took a pass from Sheheglov and beat Long Beach netminder Greyson Skirpan to give the Hat Tricks a 3-2 lead.

Long Beach went on to score three unanswered in the third, including a game-winner from Tyler Fisher (1) at 14:43 of the third. The Hat Tricks are back in action against the Sharks one week from tonight, on Oct. 1 at Danbury Ice Arena.
