DANBURY, CT– The Danbury Colonials dispatched the Long Beach Sharks 6-3 Saturday evening at Danbury Arena, extending their winning streak to five games. Misha Mshar’s hat trick led the offensive attack on a night when the hosts outshot their opponent 42-14.
Kyle McEnany opened the scoring just :35 seconds into the game, assisted by Connor Lefkof and Brandon Cope. The Sharks would answer back just two minutes later, knotting the score.
At the 13:56 mark, Kevin Remson gave the Colonials a lead they would not relinquish, wiring a wrist shot just inside the far post. Maverik Skeans registered an assist, his first point since returning to the lineup from a fractured leg.
With less than three minutes remaining in the first, Mshar tallied his first of the game on the powerplay.
Nate Mastrony redirected a Ryan Wojciechowski shot from the point early in the second period, extending Danbury’s lead to 4-1. Though Long Beach would respond with a goal of their own, Mshar then added his second of the game to keep the lead at three.
Mshar would strike on the powerplay in the third period, completing the hat trick and sealing a 6-3 victory for the black-and-orange.
“It was a bit of an ugly win,” said assistant coach Brian Allen. “But we did some things right throughout and came out on top.”
“It wasn’t necessarily the way we’d like it,” said defenseman Connor Lefkof, who had a pair of assists in the game. “As long as we keep finding a way to keep winning and getting momentum. We just gotta make sure to play the way we want to play.”
