DANBURY, CT – The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks held on late to complete a First Round-sweep of the Long Beach Sharks 4-2 on Saturday night.

After an overtime-win on Friday, the Hat Tricks returned home with a chance to advance to the East Division Finals.Danbury started off strong with Nick Rogers opening the scoring 3:07 into the game. Rogers was the only scorer for the Hat Tricks in Game 1 and continued in Game 2. Dylan Walker scored his first of the playoffs with 32 seconds left in the first on a backhand-attempt that sailed under the bar.

Danbury led 2-0 until late in the second when Martins Leps scored his first of the playoffs to give the Hat Tricks a 3-0 lead into the final frame.

Late in the third, Danbury was 3:12 away from advancing, but Matt Carson got Long Beach on the board. Thirty-nine seconds later, Tyler Zembrzycki made it a 3-2 game.

In the final minutes, and all throughout the third period, Hat Tricks goaltender Brennan Churchill was consistently tested. Churchill made 39 saves in total with 18 coming in the third period.

With 13 seconds left, Rogers scored from the neutral zone into an empty-net to ice the game. Rogers scored four times in the series to boost the Hat Tricks to a sweep.

Danbury will take on the top-seeded Northeast Generals in the East Division Finals next weekend.
