DANBURY, CT – The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (27-15-1-3, 58 pts) skated to a pair of wins on Saturday night against the Norwich Sea Captains (8-31-6-1, 23 pts).
The two teams finished a suspended game from Feb. 18th with a 25-minute period. Danbury led 3-2 late, before a Norwich goal tied the game with less than five seconds left.
Early in overtime, Elijah Devereaux took a pass from Nick Rogers and had a wide-open net to end the game.
The teams returned to the ice shortly after with Norwich taking an early lead. After heading to the first intermission behind by a goal, Danbury scored twice in the second to take the lead.
Roman Winicki started things off for Danbury with his fifth of the season from Daniel Khatib on the power play. Just under five minutes later, Ivan Kovalev scored his ninth goal of the season from Oleg Egorov and Khatib to give the Hat Tricks their first lead at 2-1.
Danbury held onto that lead the rest of the way with goaltender Lorenzo Rossi making 52 saves in the win.
Danbury will return to action next weekend for the East Division semifinals against the Long Beach Sharks. Game one will be on Friday night in Long Beach before the teams return to Danbury on Saturday for Game two.
