DANBURY, CT – The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (19-14-1-3, 42 pts) fell on Saturday night 5-2 to the Northeast Generals (35-2-0-0, 70 pts).

Through 20 minutes, the Hat Tricks and Generals were scoreless despite multiple chances.

Halfway through the second period, the Generals had taken a 2-0 lead, but the Hat Tricks responded.

At the 15:45 mark, Daniel Khatib rushed down the right wing and ripped a shot over the shoulder of Northeast goaltender Luke Fundator to bring Danbury within one.

Late in the second, the Hat Trick won a defensive-zone faceoff and Dylan Walker started a two-on-one with Roman Winicki, feeding the puck to Winicki in front of the Northeast net. Winicki buried his first-career goal on Walker’s 12th assist of the season.

To start the third, Northeast unleashed three goals in the first 1:53 of the period to put the game out of reach for the Hat Tricks.

Goaltender Brennan Churchill made 32 saves as he was under pressure all game.

The Hat Tricks are back in action on Monday at noon when they host Long Beach.
