DANBURY, CT – The NA3HL’s Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (8-9-0-2) conceded a shootout to the Bay State Bobcats (7-12-1-1) on Sunday night.

The game started out strongly for Danbury as Nick Rogers (8) capitalized on a Bay State turnover, scoring just 6:08 into play.

Bay State came back and scored twice in the final six minutes of the first to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

The Hat Tricks had a quick start again in the second period with Daniel Khatib scoring his 11th goal of the season from Rogers (4) and Ivan Kovalev (9).

Danbury seemed to be headed for the second intermission tied, but a turnover in front of goaltender Liam McGibbon was put into the net by Will Cormie. The goal put Bay State up 3-2 and it held that lead into the third period.

McGibbon stopped 30 of 33 shots he faced over regulation and overtime.

After killing nine-consecutive minutes of penalty time, the Hat Tricks clawed back with 3:13 left when Dylan Walker took a lob pass from Elijah Devereaux out of the air and roofed a backhand into the goal.

As the game headed to overtime, Danbury controlled play, firing six shots in the overtime period and keeping Bay State in its own zone. Although commanding the play, the Hat Tricks couldn’t capitalize and the game headed to a shootout.

Bay State took an early lead in the shootout, but the Hat Tricks extended it to a final shot in the fifth round. Devereaux was unable to convert and the Hat Tricks dropped the contest.

Danbury is back in action on Wednesday afternoon when it hosts the Norwich Sea Captains inside Danbury Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
