HAT TRICKS ERUPT FOR EIGHT GOALS TO BEAT TITANS

DANBURY, CT – The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (15-11-0-3, 33 pts) used a four-goal performance from Nikita Kovalev to dismantle the New Jersey Titans (12-18-0-0, 24 pts) 8-0 on Saturday night.

Kovalev got the scoring started early, netting his first of the game at 5:29 of the first. His first three goals of the night were all assisted by Nick Rogers and Daniel Khatib.

Kovalev recorded five points in the game, bringing his season total to 38. Rogers and Khatib each notched four points, while Dylan Walker added three of his own.

Jacob Deitsch added his third of the year on the power play at the end of the first and the Hat Tricks took a 2-0 lead into the second period.

In the second, Walker (9) and Khatib (15) each scored before Kovalev (22) added his third 36 seconds into the third.

The Hat Tricks finished off the win with three goals in the third, including two more from Kovalev.

Goaltender Brennan Churchill recorded his fourth shutout of the season, stopping all 23 shots he faced. He is tied for second in the league in shutouts.

“He’s a rock back there,” said head coach Tyler Noseworthy. “He plays a mature game and that helps us a lot.”

The Jr. Hat Tricks return to the ice on Monday to host the first-place Northeast Generals at 7 p.m.
