Despite getting on the board first the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks fell to the Bay State Bobcats 3-2 Sunday evening at Danbury Arena. The guests used two goals from Troy Harwell and a 37 save effort from Nathan Moffitt in net to take the victory.
Dylan Webber converted a silky feed from Kolby Donovan to open the scoring 7:36 into the evening’s action. The scoring play was started by Cole Madzey who caused a turnover that Donovan was able to corral. The Bobcats answered with a power play goal from John Kosa and Harwell’s first of the evening to take a 2-1 lead after one period despite a 16-9 shot advantage for the Jr. Hat Tricks.
Danbury recorded the only tally of the second period when Kyle Madigan took a Jake Oldham pass in the neutral zone, advanced to the Bay State zone and unleashed a laser into the top corner of the net to tie the game at two apiece 9:56 into the period. Unfortunately that would be the end of the scoring for the hosts, as Harwell’s second goal of the game with 9:20 left to play proved to be the final margin.
Trey Hirschfield made 20 saves in his Jr. Hat Tricks debut in the pipes, but suffered the loss.
