The Danbury Colonials are proud to announce that they have signed Nate Mastrony from Trumbull, CT to their roster. Mastrony is a 16 year-old forward who most recently played for the Notre Dame-Fairfield Lancers.
“I’m excited to play for the Colonials because I feel that they will focus on development both on and off the ice,” Mastrony said. “I believe they will help me achieve my goal of playing college hockey.”
“When we had the chance to work with Nate at our first tryout camp in June, his high skill level and creativity were apparent immediately,” head coach Kevin Cunningham commented. “He is driven to excel and willing to put the work in to reach his goals. Our entire staff is looking forward to working with Nate and helping him strive toward playing college hockey.”
Mastrony previously played in the USPHL 16U division for the Connecticut Jr. Rangers. He registered a goal and an assist in three postseason games with the team in 2018.
“As one of only two 2002 birth-years, Nate will be looked upon to lead the young core we have and develop with the older players,” said Nick Garofalo, director of hockey operations with the Colonials. “For a player of his stature, he plays big. He’s got a lot of grit, gets to the dirty areas…he’s someone to keep an eye on.”
The Danbury Colonials are a Tier III team in the NA3HL based out of Danbury Arena. The puck drops on their inaugural season Sunday, September 15th at Skylands Ice World in New Jersey as they take on the Skylands Kings. Their first home game will be played at Danbury Arena on Friday, September 27th against the New England Stars at 7 p.m.
