Boos records shutout as Colonials best Sharks 7-0

DANBURY, CT– Sam Boos recorded a shutout in his second start as a Danbury Colonial as the black-and-orange brigade blanked the Long Beach Sharks at Danbury Arena, 7-0.

Kyle McEnany notched the game’s first tally with 23 seconds remaining in the first period, converting on a feed from Kolby Donovan. Cole Madzey and Connor Lefkof would add to the lead in the second period, giving Danbury a 3-0 lead heading into the final frame.

The flood gates opened in the third period, as the Colonials buried four goals. Kevin Remson found the back of the net midway through the period, shortly followed by Lefkof’s second of the game. McEnany and Remson would also tack on their second goals of the contest, capping off a 7-0 win.

Lefkof would finish with four points, his personal best performance on the season.

Boos finished with 20 saves in the game. The win is Boos’ first as a member of the team.

“We got a great effort all around from the guys,” said forward Maverik Skeans, who had a pair of assists in the game. “Sam came up big for us with the shutout. The boys are rolling right now and we’ll look to build off this momentum going into the final week of the season.”

“We were given some push-back all game until we finally broke the seal late, so it was a hard-fought win,” said assistant coach Brian Allen. “Great goaltending from Sam helped us in key situations.”

The Colonials will wrap up their regular season with three games this weekend. They will visit the Sharks once more Friday night before a pair of weekend matinees against the Elmira Jr. Soaring Eagles. Danbury currently sits four points out of first place, trailing the Eagles and Skylands Kings.
